Who we are

PeekaWing (“we”, “us”) is based in India. This policy covers the PeekaWing app and our website at peekawing.online (together, the “Service”). We handle your data in line with India’s Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Information we collect

• Account details: your name, email address, phone number and date of birth, which we use to confirm you are at least 18.
• Profile details you choose to add: such as a photo, pen name, bio and interests.
• Messages and content: the letters you send to friends and to people you are matched with, and any reports you make.
• Approximate location: such as your city or country, if you allow it. We use it to show your pigeon’s journey and to suggest matches. We never show your exact location to other people.
• Device and usage information: such as device type, app version, crash reports and how you use features.
• Payment information: payments are handled by our payment partners, such as Cashfree Payments, the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation of your payment, but we do not store your full card, UPI or bank details.
• Information you send us: when you contact us, join our waitlist or fill in a form on this website.

How we use your information

• To run the Service: create your account, deliver your messages and match you with new people.
• To keep PeekaWing safe: confirm ages, detect spam, abuse and fraud, review reports and enforce our Terms of Service.
• To process payments and provide paid features.
• To send you important messages about your account, security and changes to our policies.
• To send you news about PeekaWing, only if you agree. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• To fix problems and improve the Service.
• To meet our legal obligations.

Anonymous chats and revealing who you are

When you chat with someone new, they only see your pen name and what you write. Your real name, photos and profile stay hidden until you both choose to reveal. After you both reveal, the other person can see the profile details you have chosen to share.

Anything you write in a message can be read by the person you send it to. Please think carefully before sharing personal details, such as your phone number or address, with someone you have just met.

When we share information

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only:

• with other users, as described above;
• with service providers who help us run PeekaWing, such as cloud hosting, email, analytics and payment providers, who must protect your data and use it only for the work we ask them to do;
• when the law, a court order or a government authority requires it, or when we need to protect the safety and rights of our users and others;
• if PeekaWing is merged with or bought by another company, in which case we will tell you before your data falls under a different privacy policy.

How long we keep your data

We keep your information while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except for information we must keep longer to meet legal obligations, settle disputes or prevent abuse, such as records of accounts that were reported.

How we protect your data

We use safeguards such as encryption while data travels between your device and our servers, and access controls so that only people who need your data can see it. No system is perfectly secure, so we also ask you to keep your password private.

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:

• ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you;
• correct or update your data;
• delete your data by deleting your account;
• withdraw your consent at any time;
• nominate someone to use these rights for you if you are unable to;
• raise a complaint with us, and then with the Data Protection Board of India if you are not satisfied.

Age requirement

PeekaWing is only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will delete it. If you believe a minor is using PeekaWing, please tell us.

This website and cookies

This website only uses the cookies it needs to work. If you fill in a form here, such as the waitlist or contact form, we keep what you send so we can reply to you or tell you when PeekaWing launches.

International users

PeekaWing is available worldwide. Your data may be stored and processed in India or in other countries where our service providers operate, with the protections required by law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new date, and tell you in the app or by email about any important changes.

Complaints and contact

If you have a complaint about how we handle your data or about content on PeekaWing, email us. We will acknowledge your complaint within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days.
